It's just basic algebra. Negative x positive or vice versa will always have a negative answer... No matter what good intentions you may have, it will still be considered as bad if you actions are also bad...
One good example is Robinhood. People say that Robinhood is good because he steals from the rich and gives to the poor. Robinhood's reason is that rich people also steal from the poor.
For me, it is wrong for Robbinhood to steal from the rich because he is just like the rich people who also steals. They are no different from each other. Even if he has good intentions for the poor, he still does it by stealing. Therefore it is no longer considered as a good act.
This situations are only one of many misconceptions of people deciding wether an act is good or bad... That is why ethics is responsible for making it clear for everybody. Ethics clearly states that an act is morally good if it is done in accordance with God's law and human reason. Lets get back to the example (robbinhood), is stealing in accordance with God's law? think about it...
Ethics say that "Human Act" is done with full knowledge and free will.. Now, can mentally illed people be exempted? For me, no.. Because mentally illed people are no longer capable of thinking properly. They might kill a person but they still have no full knowledge of their action. So is it still considered as a human act?
Now we know that not all good acts can be good, therefore we should never judge a situation by the way it looks but judge a situation by wisdom... Also, we should remember, that no matter what good intentions you may have, it will never be good unless it is done in accordance with the good. (Positive x positive will always have a positive answer)
